What are Biogas Carbon Credits?
Our carbon credits are generated in high-tech plants for proper waste management and treatment, ensuring the protection of soil, water and air.
In landfills, organic waste decomposes and generates biogas, a mixture of gases that mainly contain methane (CH₄). The biogas is captured by a network of pipes and undergoes a purification process to remove impurities.
From this:
• Part of the biogas is transformed into renewable electrical energy in our thermoelectric plants.
• Another part is purified and converted into biomethane, a green fuel used in our truck fleets.
• And the surplus is treated and purified, preventing its emission into the atmosphere.
This process drives the circular economy and promotes positive ESG impact, generating biogas carbon credits and directly contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
