What are Biogas Carbon Credits?
Our carbon credits are generated in high-tech plants that manage and treat waste properly, ensuring the protection of soil, water, and air.
In landfills, organic waste decomposes and generates biogas, a mixture of gases that mainly contains methane (CH₄). The biogas is captured by a network of pipes and undergoes a purification process to remove impurities.
From this:
• Part of the biogas is transformed into renewable electricity in our thermal power plants.
• Another portion is purified and converted into biomethane, a green fuel used in our truck fleets.
• And the excess is treated and purified, preventing its emission into the atmosphere.
This process drives the circular economy and promotes a positive ESG impact, generating biogas carbon credits and directly contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
